Unpaid wages calculator
Estimate what your employer owes you in Canada: the principal over the period. Useful to prepare a complaint (Labour Program, CNESST or Ministry of Labour, depending on the jurisdiction).
What does this calculation cover?
It covers unpaid wages or overtime. How far back you can recover depends on the jurisdiction: 24 months federally (s. 251.1(1.1)), 1 year in Quebec (art. 115 LNT), 2 years in Ontario (s. 111 ESA).
What about interest?
Pre-judgment interest is left to the body hearing the claim: there is no single statutory rate across jurisdictions. Leave the interest field at 0 for the principal alone.
This calculation does not include
- Night or Sunday premiums (agreement or decree, depending on the jurisdiction).
- Vacation pay on the wages due.
- The remedies and time limits of your own jurisdiction (federal, Quebec, Ontario).
